How it works

From first sample to shelf-ready stock

There are two ways to launch with us. White label: put your brand on one of our 100+ tested formulas from 10 units. Private label: develop a formula made for your brand, typically from 1,000 units. This page walks through every step of both.

White label or private label?

Same facility, same quality systems. The difference is whose formula it is, how much you order, and how long it takes to reach the market.

Path 1 · White label

White label, step by step

Most white label orders are made and dispatched within days. Here's the full process, from choosing a product to reordering.

  1. Choose your product and packaging

    You

Browse 100+ formulas by product type, skin concern, hero ingredient or profession. Each product page lists its packaging options, full ingredient list and compliance documents.

    Browse products
  2. Order a full-size sample

    YouNo minimum

Select Sample on the product page and check out. Samples are full size and carry our label, so you can test texture, scent and performance before committing.

  3. Design your label

    YouYour artwork

Open the Canva template for your packaging and design your label. You can also use Illustrator or any other software, as long as the artwork matches our label dimensions — then upload it as a transparent PNG.

    Read the label guide
  4. Place your order

    YouFrom 10 units

Add at least 10 units, choose Custom Brand (MOQ 10), paste your Canva collaboration link (set to Anyone with the link · Can edit) and check out.

Orders under 5,000 units are paid in full at checkout. Prices include formulation, filling, packaging and labelling.

  5. We batch, fill and label

    UsSee lead times below

Your batch is made under ISO 22716 GMP principles, then filled, sealed and labelled to your specification on our Gold Coast production line.

  6. Quality check and release

    Us

Every product is tested before release, including microbiological release testing, and checked before it's packed.

    Certifications & testing
  7. Dispatch

    Us

Domestic orders ship with Australia Post, and orders over 20 kg with MyTeamGE. International orders ship by standard post, with palletised air or sea freight for large orders.

  8. Sell, then reorder

    You

Your SDS, CoA and PIF are available from our document library. Sell units within 12 months of your order date; your customers use them within 12 months of opening. Reorder any time from 10 units.

White label lead times

How long production takes

Approximate production times for white label orders. Shipping time is additional.

How long production takes
Order sizeProduction time
1–50 unitsApprox. 1–4 business days
50–200 units4–8 business days
200–500 units6–10 business days
500+ units12+ business days — enquire for a precise estimate

Private label and custom timelines depend on development, regulatory review, ingredient sourcing and packaging lead times. Our filling capacity — up to around 45,000 units a day — is rarely the bottleneck; approvals, artwork and component supply usually set the pace.

Path 2 · Private label

Private label, start to finish

A custom formula built for your brand. Timelines vary with complexity, so each stage ends with a clear checkpoint before we move on.

  1. Send your brief

    You

Tell us the product type, target markets, key actives or claims, texture, fragrance, packaging, expected volumes and target retail price. Benchmark products help.

    Send a brief
  2. Feasibility and regulatory review

    Together

We review the brief against the rules in your markets — AICIS and the Poisons Standard (SUSMP) in Australia, the EU and UK cosmetics regulations, and US MoCRA — and flag any ingredient or claim issues before development starts.

  3. Quote

    UsYour sign-off

You receive a quote covering development, testing, packaging and production. Private label minimums typically start at 1,000 units.

  4. Formulation and lab samples

    TogetherSample approval

Our lab develops the formula and sends samples for your feedback. We refine it until you approve. Want to match a product you already love? We can reverse engineer a benchmark.

  5. Stability and preservative-efficacy testing

    Us

The approved formula goes through stability testing and preservative efficacy (challenge) testing to Ph. Eur. 5.1.3 / USP <51>.

  6. Compliance documentation

    Us

We prepare the Product Information File, safety assessment, SDS and CoA, and support CPNP notification for the EU and registrations for other markets.

    International regulatory guide
  7. Packaging and artwork

    TogetherArtwork approval

Choose from our packaging range, supply your own for filling, or have components sourced to spec. We help you check artwork against your packaging dimensions and the label rules for each market.

    Read the label guide
  8. Production run

    Us

Batches are made in our vacuum emulsifying homogeniser, then filled and capped on automated lines, with hot filling for balms and oils. As a guide, a 10,000-unit night cream run takes about 1.5 weeks of production time.

  9. Quality release

    Us

Each batch is tested before release, including total aerobic microbial count, yeast and mould, and pathogen screening.

  10. Delivery and reorders

    Us

Stock ships to you, your 3PL or your retailers, with palletised freight for large orders. Reorders follow the same approved specification, so scaling up is straightforward.

FAQ

Questions about the process

Can I start with white label and move to private label later?

Yes. Many brands launch with white label to test demand, then develop a custom formula once a product is proven.

Do samples have my branding?

No. Samples carry our label so you can evaluate the product itself. Branded orders start at 10 units.

Can I use my own labels or packaging?

We don't apply customer-supplied labels. If you'd rather label products yourself, we can supply them unlabelled — label compliance is then your responsibility. For your own packaging, see our filling service.

How long does private label take?

It depends on formulation complexity, regulatory review, ingredient sourcing and packaging lead times. Production itself is fast — approvals, artwork and component supply usually set the timeline.

Who owns the formula?

Cellular Cosmetics retains the IP for white label formulas. Ownership of a custom formula is set out in your quote and manufacturing agreement.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, worldwide. Shipping is quoted on size, weight, destination and method, and large orders can go by palletised air or sea freight. See our regulatory guide for market requirements.

What compliance documents do I receive?

SDS, CoA and PIF as standard. For custom products we also prepare the safety assessment and support EU CPNP notification and registrations in other markets.

Can my products come in a printed box?

Yes. Our box manufacturing partner, The Packaging People in Melbourne, already has our packaging dimensions. We can assemble and pack the boxes for you from $2 per unit. See custom boxes.

Can you store my stock or packaging?

Yes. We can store your empty packaging in our climate-controlled facility ahead of production, and offer warehousing and fulfilment for ongoing orders.
